Child of a missionary

My parents are Christian missionaries with an organization that translates the Bible into native languages. I grew up in Africa until age 18 when I went to a Christian college. I have been a devout Christian my entire life until four months ago when I realized deep down that it was all a horrible deception.

I read a sermon by George MacDonald called "Justice," which put the finger on all the things about Christianity that I discovered to be a lie. Christianity suggests that God regrets that he created the world, and could be gratified by torturing every one of its inhabitants in hell for eternity. I cannot believe that I believed such idiocy for so long. Such a God, if it existed, deserves to be denounced, not worshipped.

I also discovered that the religion kept evolving through time, changing as it went. Compare the theology of Clement of Alexandria (200 AD), which was humane, to that of Anselm of Canterbury (1000 AD), which was sadistic. By today's standards, Clement did not believe the things he must believe in order to be tormented through eternity by the Christian demon God.

Any way, I am on Welbutrin now, trying to get over my Christianity-induced paranoia. And my girlfriend is being very patient with me while I work out my intense sexual anxiety and frustration.

Other authors helpful on my road to sanity were Robert Ingersoll and HL Mencken.

It truly is an elaborate hoax, but I am glad I have now seen the light. I love Christians but hate Christianity. It's a little difficult for me personally, though, as my parents are still missionaries, and so is my sister and brother and law. Moreover, almost all of the friends I have ever had are Christians and I know so few non-Christians besides my GF who, as I said, patiently lies on her back!
