Ex-Fundamentalist -- now an atheist by Randall Oelerich
I encouage anybody questioning chrisitianity to research the origins of the bible, the origins of the gospels and the new testament-- you will discover that the bible is based on myth, written by anonymous authors who melded a mix of jewish, greek, hellenistic, and ancient pagan religiouns into an amalmgam of fiction called the bible. Sounds absurd. Do not believe me-- go research it yourself (few chrisitians even dare question the bible, they just blindly go to church and accept readings from a book of myths). Participate on the newsgroup alt.atheism and learn how religion dupes the minds of the weak.
Fundamentalist chrisitianity screws with your head. I was in a bible church for 5 years, then left when they went goofy. Then after 15 years NOT going to church, I finally dared look into atheism and also the myths of the bible. Now I see the truth, that religion and the bible and an afterlife are myths. This not to be feared, indeed as an atheist I now find that I enjoy life MORE, that I love my fellow human beings MORE, I cherish life and the people I meet and the things I do MORE.

You chose wacky religions to base your knowledge of Christianity on. You should stick with religions such as Catholicism, Lutheran, or Presbyterian. The other religions were "cultish". I attend church on a regular basis and I LIVE life how God planned it to be. Do not base your religious experience on the people who attend church. Base your believe on living a Christian life outside of church by God's plan for you. Happiness may or may not be the result of living a Christian life, depending on what HIS plan is for you. I think this is how you got off-track. Give it a try and you may be pleasantly surprised by the results. God Bless.

I love how everything ELSE is a cult except the religionist's OWN cult.
