I may be a demented bastard, but it is for this very reason that I support Obama for president. These deluded superstitious fuckers are so easily influenced by their religious leaders that they don't know up from down. It still cracks me up how the conservative Christian movement so vilified Ron Paul when he is really exactly what they think they want in a president. I hope Obama becomes president and fucks their silly little brainwashed world up big time!

The Circus has come to town.

Step right up folks and see the two-headed talking bible snake, for a mere 25 cents.

And for this hour only, and for just an additional 10 measly cents, you'll get to see the effects of a good ole christian brainwashing of an innocent southern girl.

That's it folks, don't bunch up now.
There is plenty of room for everybody to see this phenomena.

**Please note that all proceeds from our cotton candy sale, will be used to buy this teen girl a real education and remove her from this very sad environment, that she was raised in**

--------
Seriously though, what a sad state of affairs, that this young girl has her brain held captive by such deluded and very ignorant elders in her life.
May she one day soon, discover the real world !!!

ATF (Who wants to know if we have in our vast southern audience, any xtian-deprogrammers that can rescue this poor girl?)

I would support Obama just to piss off people like those fundies.

Sometimes I wish the South would have won the war so that they could wallow in their ignorance and bigotry without bringing the rest of us down. Then again, that wouldn't have done the slaves much good, would it?

Why do I hear "Dueling Banjoes" when I see this video?

Small town, small minds.

But I guess when your brother is also your daddy your perspective gets a little fucked up.

Blogger eejay said...
Wow! It makes me a little embarassed to admit that I own land in such a fucked up state. And it is people like those on the video, that I am not wanting to become neighbors with.

Thank you God and Jesus for all the insightful wisdom you have bestowed upon this nation.

This would be funny if it weren't so serious.

If only Tennessee were the only place we had to worry about these retards. Alas, every state in the union have some of the same poor deluded cretins.

That's why it's important to do what we can to support science, logic, and reason. That is our only hope. Jim Earl

I have lived almost my entire adult life in the South. To be sure, there are many people like these folk in the south and certain stereotypes are warranted. But you ought to try the folk in Western PA, Western MA, rural NH and Maine, most of the rural midwest and west. Same people. Same mindset. Same ignorance. Same "God and country" mentality.

Just sayin.

I'm sorry, but I had to stop the video about halfway through before
I put my fist through the screen.
These people live in Lynchburg,
Tennessee? They've either had too
much Jack Daniels, or more likely,
not enough!

What a hypocrite that woman preacher was. She said she wouldn't vote for Hilary Clinton
because she stayed with her husband
after what he'd done. Yet, if she
were a Christian and left him, this
bozo and her ilk would be dumping on Hilary for breaking up her marriage. (Sinner!)

And just what moron started that
story about Obama being sworn in on
the Koran? I don't care if he's
sworn in on a copy of the Sports
Illustrated Swimsuit issue, I'll
vote for him if he can undo the damage to this country done by Bush and his fellow Bible-beaters.

Oh..a message for Spirula. I'm a native of western Pennsylvania, and its not quite as conservative as parts of the deep south, but there are plenty of fundamentalist
churches up that way. When I went
home for Xmas, you should have seen
the look on my parents' faces when
I told them Jesus probably wasn't
born on December 25th!

And I live in Boston, and in western MA and other areas of rural New England - yeah, it's bad. We do have bubbas, but we call them townies. I think, though, that the South is worse - fundie churches every few blocks, etc.

Re: Obama being sworn in on the Koran - it was Rep. Keith Ellison (D, MN) who took the oath of office on a Koran a year ago in January. Ellison is also an African-American, so the rocket scientists got them confused. I guess Barack's African-sounding name didn't help matters.

But this is a good case in point. Rep. Virgil Goode objected to Ellison taking the oath on a Koran, calling it a threat to American values and warning about the "dangers" of Muslims immigrating to the United States and taking elective office (Interestingly, the Koran Ellison used belonged to Thomas Jefferson; it was lent to him by the Library of Congress).

Rep. Goode's home state? Virginia. Yes, we have our ignoramuses here in New England, but we tend not to elect them to congress, and, in any case, none of them could be bothered to complain about something like this.

It's always the South, man. Always.

What can I say? You are right, of course.

I live a little below Columbia, SC and the cretins here are dumb as cow patties but a little thicker.

Cretins, can't live with'em, can't shoot'em!

Go with (b). Lynchburg is in a dry county.

Fair enough, but you're not getting off that easy.

BTW, I lived near Fitchburg not that long ago. We've got more crackers per capita down here, but, DAMN!, did I meet some dumb-ass rednecks there. And that townies term is weird too. Here in the south, it's used to describe the artsy-folk you find in cities and college towns.

Blogger Spirula said...
Message to Ace...I have a brother that lives out that way (WPA). He's a creationist biology teacher at a christian college.

But your right, we pretty much have the "stupid" market cornered in the South.

(I must add, however, people need to read bout what happened to the South during the "Reconstruction" in order to understand why it played out that way. And don't forget about the role of the Carpetbaggers either.)

Well, I'm not disagreeing with you, exactly - but I don't think it's quite the same thing. Mitt's an asshole, not an idiot. Although, he is a Mormon. Hmmm... Tough call.

We do the stupidest damn thing up here. We elect liberal Democratic congresspeople, and conservative Republican governors. And we've done it repeatedly. I have no idea why.

BTW, I lived near Fitchburg not that long ago. We've got more crackers per capita down here, but, DAMN!, did I meet some dumb-ass rednecks there.

Yeah, I know. Everyone thinks the Northeast is a haven for godless liberal intellectuals. Only in and around the cities. Much of the rest is hickville.

And that townies term is weird too. Here in the south, it's used to describe the artsy-folk you find in cities and college towns.

That I didn't know. That's interesting, actually. I can see how the usage would develop. And we don't use the term solely to refer to people in rural areas, btw. It's also used to describe someone who lives in a town all of his or her life, and has a sort of small-town outlook. There are towns within a ten or twenty mile radius of Boston, the inhabitants of which are referred to as "townies".

The video is sickening. I live in Virginia, so I get to hear about our own illustrious politician, Virgil Goode way too often. I couldn't begin to tell you how many intersections have four churches at them...of course, all tax-exempt. Daily I have to drive by dozens, maybe even hundreds of them, all with their little platitudes displayed on their signs and billboards. Everything that happens is a "miracle" or "god's will". Satan is blamed for everything bad. Well Satan AND the gays...AND the liberals... AND the atheists...AND the Democrats. Did I leave anybody out? Let's not take any personal responsibility, okay...this is the buybull belt. Yes, Jim Earl, the cretins are everywhere....and I happen to live with one of them too. We were both non-practicing Catholics - basically agnostics -- when we married. Twelve years and two kids later, he went to work one day perfectly normal and sane -- well HALFWAY normal and sane ;-) and came home a fundie. He began ranting and raving about the end-times, whore of babylon, UPC codes being of the devil--you name it, he spouted it. Well, that's another story. Anyhow, as you said,
"Cretins, can't live with'em, can't shoot'em!" How true!

Blogger cipher said...
buffetphan,

I'm so sorry to hear that. How old are your children? Is he insisting that they be indoctrinated?

Blogger buffettphan said...
cipher,

Thank you. Yes he did want them indoctrinated. I went along with it for a few months (trying to keep the peace). That lasted until one easter at church when all the kids were asked to raise their hands if they had an easter basket. Those who did (mine included) were told that easter baskets were "of the devil". That was the last time I went to any church/meeting with him. Kids were very young then...maybe kindergarten and first grade. I was trapped because he had all the money and power and said he'd take the kids from me. I couldn't have them raised solely by him. So I stuck it out. They are grown now, married and on their own. Son and his wife (who had been raised as jehovah witness) have nothing to do with anything "religious"... and believe as I do, that people who fall for it are somewhat mentally off. Unfortunately my daughter and her husband (who was raised fundie) got suckered into it just a couple of years ago. What a waste......

In the meantime, I make do. My marriage sure isn't what it was, or what I'd like it to be, but hey I get laid on a somewhat regular basis. LOL

It really upsets me that these rumors against Obama are still believed by so many people. He does say the pledge, he was sworn in on his own Bible, he goes to church... ARGH! Why does any of that matter anyway?

By the way, those false rumors are alive and well in the midwest too.

Buffettphan;

I feel the need to clarify one thing about my spouse. She is not a fundie type. However, she is still a cretin in my book. She attends a baptist church on a semi-regular basis and sometimes other functions of the church.

I haven't attended church since 9-11 except for a couple funerals. Those were bad enough.

My wife and I raised two sons and both are non-believers, even though they were raised mostly in the church. I believe the reason they don't believe today was that they had my influence to dispell the bs they got at church.

My spouse and I love each other and because of that love we also tolerate one another. I am hopeful that one day she will shed her cretin skin and be able to think for herself. Jim Earl

AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH! I have about ripped out all of the hear on my head listening to this crock'a shit. How the hell does that lil' 'ole bayou bumbkin - no nothing, ignorant girl know where anyone stands with any god let alone hers? I guess she picks out who goes to heaven and hell too huh?

Today I had the great pleasure of having to listen to some fundie "expose" Obama's religion. "Ya'll know he is a MUSLIM dontcha?" I asked her where she got her information. "My church." So I enlightened her on the facts. "Yes Obama's father is Muslim,' I said, "However he was raised by his very xtian mother and grandmother." She didn't know what to say. Ahhhh... sometimes silence is truly golden! (Not that being raised by 2 xtians is any better!)

Jim Earl-- My husband and I have had the "agree-to-disagree" arrangement for about ten years. Sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't. He's not supposed to "preach" to me, but you know how it is when jeebus tells somebody to do something! I just wish he'd think for himself again.

That video was almost too much to take. I simply do not understand how these people can be so ignorant.

Belive me, these cave dwellers are not limited to Tennessee. Go to most any small town in Alabama and you will find the same stupidity. Last fall, I was at a Barnes and Noble in Huntsville where I purchased Christopher Hitchen's "God Is Not Great". As I was leaving the checkout, the cashier warned me that it might not be a good idea to let anyone outside of the city see the cover.
The warning was not needed, I know what superstitious, mean-spirited jerks these fundies can be. The video just reminded me just how prevalent religion-base ignorace is in the South.

Blogger Aspentroll said...
That would be one of the funniest videos I've seen if it weren't for the fact these people are so brainwashed. It
really is hard to imagine that
the USA has such ignorance and stupidity running rampant in the country. No wonder that little girl is so screwed up in her thinking when she has close encounters with those three harpies.
The worst of it is
that those four women on that video are only the tip of a huge iceberg of backward thinking and ignorance in the south part of the US.
It's going to take a while guys.
