Westboro Baptists come to Camp Lejeune

This just sent in from a member of the U.S. Marine Corps stationed at Camp Lejeune, North Carolina.

These idiots are coming to the front gate at Camp Lejeune to protest the Marine Corps. They are also going to our Beruit Memorial Cemetery to celebrate the deaths of all Marines who have been killed in action. All Marines and Sailors on base have been ordered not to go to the protests or interact with them for any reason.

That's probably a smart order, because I have a mind to go there with a platoon of Marines, all carrying baseball bats. That would probably just invigorate them all the more, though. These are the same ass-clowns that protested the funeral of a Marine a couple years ago who died in an I.E.D. blast. They were carrying signs saying "God loves IED's."

Stupidity never ceases to amaze me.

I would certainly support any action against these cretins. However, they are their own worst enemy. They are good examples of what a "true christian" should do if they are truly following their bibles instructions to the letter. Let them show themselves for what they are, mindless sheep following the orders of a no-nonsense mindgod. Jim Earl

Well, frankly it greatly surprises me they haven't pissed off the wrong person already.

Like a flaming fag with HIV and a crystal meth habit who figures "Hey, if I only have six months left, why not spend them all in one night?" buys a bunch of guns, fills a couple of empty shooter bottles with gasoline and goes to party at the Phelps compound. "Tonight we dine in Hell, bitches!"

Not like I want to give anyone any ideas...

Maybe the government protects this family as posterboys for freedom of speech.

I agree, in theory anyway, that it would be great if Phelps's little extremist cult would be shut down and shut up. And I wouldn't blame someone for reacting violently against their special brand if idiocy. BUT any rational person should realize that any action taken against the Phelps family would be taken as martyrdom, only adding fuel to their fire. I reckon it's only a matter of time before they finally piss off just the right person(s) at just the wrong time.

All you can do is pity them for the ignorance, which is proudly displayed on their Websites, in their interviews, and through other media clips.

These animals should be met by a paltoon of combat hardened Marines armed with baseball bats, and have the living hell beat out of them, to within a milimeter of their stupid miserable lives, after all they are supposed to be willing to suffer for their stupidity right?

These ass holes are the very reason that I am a militant atheist, these animals are the reason that I utterly hate christianity and christians, I hope that they all get killed, or at least get the living shit beat out of them.
I was a Marine, and I would not stand idlely by and watch a bunch of sick deranged ass holes like these animals protest my Brother Marines getting killed I would do something about it regardless of orders.

These people make me sick. It isn't enough for them to harass the family of Matthew Shepard... they decide to up the ante and show up at military funerals! It's the most twisted, disgusting thing. They planned to protest at the funerals of the Amish children killed in that school shooting a year or so ago, too, but I think some talk-show host offered them an hour of airtime not to do it, thank goodness. These assholes will someday piss off the wrong person, I'm sure. Honestly, I can't believe it hasn't already happened; people get killed all the time for doing far less than they do.

This group is nothing but a bunch of sorry hatemongers. They say they're "doing god's work." in reality, I think anyone with even a bit of sanity is sickened by the bullshit posted on their homepage. And the craziest thing about it is, they say they are doing this because of love. Did I miss something? Preaching hatred and acting joyful over the deaths of thousands of people? Love?

I am currently a Marine, stationed at Camp Lejeune, I just returned from a not so pleasent deploment, and came home to hear that there is a group protesting against everything i love and live for, its the best feeling in the world when someone walks by and notices you for the accomplishments you have achieved, i love being a Marine, i love fighting for those who stand behind me and my brothers and sisters, its you people that make me proud, when i drive on base everytime i see signs and sheets of messages of loved ones to there familys in iraq and afgahnastan, that means so much!! and i thank yall everyone of yall that stand behind us. i know that there is support for us and i want to personaly thank yall, all of you! God Bless and Semper Fi.

Anonymous, I was a Marine as well, but didn't live out in J-Town. It would have been tempting to take a detour on the way to work, if I had.

The unit I was assigned to, would have been in lock down, if there was an inkling of animosity for these parasites of society. And, it should come as no surprise, that these parasites of life call ahead to law enforcement, seeking protection and public attention before they dream about showing up in a community.

Like most pathetic extremists, with pathological beliefs, they're likely looking for a martyr in order to elevate their standing in the evangelical community.
