WELLINGTON, Ohio -- Police in Brighton Township in Lorain County said that a teenager shot his parents.

The boy's mother was killed and his father, who is also a pastor, is in critical condition after being shot in their home on Peck-Wadsworth Road on Saturday.

Marc Petric, 45, was flown to MetroHealth Medical Center after the shooting at 7 p.m. Sue Petric died at the scene.

Marc is the pastor at New Life Assembly of God.

The couple's 16-year-old son, Daniel, is being questioned by the Lorain County Sheriff.

Officials said he was the sole person responsible for the crime.

Daniel was arrested after police spotted him driving his father's 1999 green Windstar.

He has not been charged yet. Daniel is expected in court Monday morning.

Update:

BRIGHTON TWP. -- Police say 16-year-old boy has admitted to killing his mother. He also admitted to shooting his father, a pastor, in the face.

Investigators say Danny Petric told them he was tired of arguing with his parents so he shot them. His father Mark, a pastor of a church in Wellington is in intensive care. His mother Sue is dead.

Members of the church where Petric's father is the pastor say they knew Sunday services would be held as scheduled. They told Channel 3 that is what their pastor and his wife would want.

Some got the news as they came to church. Their pastor, Mark Petric is in intensive care after being shot in the face. His wife Sue, a member of the congregation is dead. The coroner says she was found with gunshot wounds in the head and arm.

"She would ask us to love her family and her son" said Kathie Stiles, a friend of the family.

Investigators say the couple's 16 year old son Danny admitted to getting his father's 9mm semi-automatic pistol and shooting his parents.

"We miss her. She was loved by everybody" said Hal Stiles a friend of the family.

Members of the New Life Assembly of God say this tragedy has left them shaken but they're counting on their faith to guide them.

"Words are hard to find at a time like this" said Hal Stiles.

Understandably they worshiped behind closed doors. There were no questions about what happened and why. The focus of Sunday services not just their pastor's well being but his daughters who made the gruesome discovery and the pastor's son who fled the scene but was caught.

I think I hear a christian getting ready to post something to the effect that this kid was not a real christian or some such.

It could be said that this kid wasn't an atheist either because atheists never get tired of arguing. ;)

A child shot his mother in the face and killed her -- a tragedy for all human beings. I actually knew this woman when we were in our early teens; my Dad called to tell me she had been murdered, I haven't seen her in almost thirty years but I reflected on how she was the one I could always count on to stay up all night during a sleepover for an innocent prank... She was a mom who was shot in the face by her child, killed by the very person she brought into this world. Yes, even after nearly thirty years -- I cried. I have two sons, 17 and 20 and I know how hard life can be.
