GALVESTON, Texas -- A woman blames the devil, and not her husband, for severely burning their infant daughter in a microwave, a Texas television station reported.

Eva Marie Mauldin said Satan compelled her 19-year-old husband, Joshua Royce Mauldin, to microwave their daughter May 10 because the devil disapproved of Joshua's efforts to become a preacher.

"Satan saw my husband as a threat," Eva Mauldin said.

A grand jury indicted Joshua Mauldin last week on child injury charges after hearing evidence that he placed the two-month-old in a motel microwave for 10 to 20 seconds.

The infant, Ana Marie, remains hospitalized. She suffered burns on the left side of her face and to her left hand, police said.

Police said Joshua Mauldin told them he put Ana Marie in the microwave because he was under stress. Eva Maudlin denied it.

"He would never do anything to hurt her. He loves her," she said.

She is hoping to be reunited with her daughter, but Child Protective Services is working to have the parental rights severed.

Joshua Maudlin is a sicko who deserves a caning and imprisonment. Eva Maudlin is also another sicko who is apparently in need of psychiatric attention.

"He would never do anything to hurt her. He loves her," she said.

Which reminds me of a quote by George Carlin:

Religion has actually convinced people that there's an invisible man - living in the sky -who watches everything you do, every minute of every day. And the invisible man has a special list of ten things he does not want you to do. And if you do any of these ten things, he has a special place, full of fire and smoke and burning and torture and anguish, where he will send you to live and suffer and burn and choke and scream and cry forever and ever 'til the end of time! ..But He loves you....

It's kind of funny that thousands of other people successfully become pastors without being taken over by Satan and microwaving babies.

Personally, I think the dude was just trying to be like wise like Solomon. Solomon understood that it's okay to cook and eat babies. He had no problem handing one such innocent child back to its cannibal mother.

OMFG It really seems theres no hope for this world. This made me sick. But the bible does condone child abuse and other atrocities. In fact God commands it. I personally believe it makes people think these types of things aren't so bad. It also makes me sick that when a Christian does something wrong they say the devil made me do it. Ass wads...

Why arent the Christians picketting for his release? He wasnt responsible after all. It was thier boogey-man's fault. Could it be becuase they know how insane it seems to everyone to clam that Satan himself made him do it? Why then they dont see the insanity of talking to thier other invisible creature, god?

Actually, on the CNN link, it doesn't say anything about 'Satan' at all. The story is that 19-year old dud first asks for the manager of the hotel to call 911 because the child has 'severe sunburn'. Then he changes his story and tells the cops that he 'accidently spilled boiling water' over his child. Then the cops find out he put the kid into a microwave.
Now, this 'father' is 19 and has a two-months old baby. This is a clear example of what Theodore Dalrymple describes as our current paradigm where thinking about consequenses is seen as intellectual and therefore 'elite and thus to be sneered at' and impulsiveness is imperative.
Look, it's very simple, if you want to indulge in sex, realise that it could result into a baby. At 18, you're not ready to become a dud (or a moomy - if the moomy in this case even *was* 18 when she got pregnant), especially if, as in this case, duddy doesn't have a job and you have to live from motelroom to motelroom.
So, if you want sex, *figure out how to use birthcontrol!* It's not rocket-science! Then, you will not be 'stressed out' (as was moomy's first defense) and you don't have to come up with ridiculous pleas about 'the Devil made him do it'.

That whole 'satan' business sounds like a huge excuse to me anyway (meaning that I don't think this couple believes it themselves anymore than I do)
Sounds more like mom and dad sitting in a motel-room, very frustrated because they're penniless and jobhunting, and dad, in (another) flash of impulsive, let's not think clearly about consequenses, boneheadedness, thinks for two seconds that if he gets rid of the baby, their problems will all be solved. The baby was probably the reason why he had to marry mom in the first place. So he acts and after hearing the infant scream for one second he janks it out again and desperately claws for excuses to relieve himself (even only in his own mind) from the guilt.

I recommend Theodore Dalrymple's book "Life at the bottom".

What really burns me up (no pun intended) is that Christians think this guy is still going to Heaven simply for believing, when we are considered the enemy no matter how upright we live our lives.

My Christian friends and family think my husband and I are doing the children the gravest of disservices now that we have deconverted and am no longer bringing them up in the "fear and admonition" of the Lawd. Let's see if they'd rather have parents like these take our place

Christian fundamentalist teens having babys? Yep. Spreading the sickness to the next generation.

Most likely the guy is mentally ill.

The religious beliefs that his GF or wife is using is propably her best way of understanding why the father of her son did something so horrible. She is ignorant.

People always look for understanding in tragedy. He is still guilty of a crime and he should never parent that child again.

Perhaps ppl like them need to get neutered. Nobody complains when their cat or dog get the snip so y not fundies who blame it on satan? LOL

'omhjg (oh my holy jesus gawd) why did u cut my balls off?' he said

'Satan (or jesus .. satan=bad reason; jesus = good reason) made me do it' she replied.

Rational ppl say:
no problems of them reproducing!

she says: he's not stressed out any more

his opinion: the lords command who make themself eunuchs for the kingdoooooom of heaven. Or bad reason: satan was jealous of my small package

Is the world going mad??? Are we rats in a cage, the stuff we read about in 3rd grade science class? My niece was murdered a couple of weeks ago here in Colorado Springs and I feel like the world is a horrible place to be. Her bf then shot himself. My mind is mush. Pray for me... OK, so I had to add a little dark humor here...

Sorry webmaster, I meant the CNN *video* link, not the weblink. Weird, that. On the newsvideo link there's not a word about 'the devil' or anything. It's just about this guy who first claimed that his baby had sunburn, then that he had accidently spilled a hot drink over her and then confessed to microwaving her.
Apparantly his nutso *wife* was the one who, as an afterthought, came up with the devil excuse.

My dad was 40 when I was born. He later told me several times that when I was an infant and he was in the car waiting for my mom to finish shopping, I was crying so much he was just about to get out and toss me in the dumpster when my mother came out of the store. I don't think he was joking either, especially after the hell I went through as a kid to begin with.

It doesn't matter how old one is, it's their state of mind. Some are just never cut out to be parents. But with family/friends thinking there's something "wrong" with people who are not married/with kids by a certain age, or that society takes parents/married people more seriously and looks at them as "more responsible" just because they are married parents, this is what causes it all.

So this would be the modern version of 'making their children to pass through the fire'?

That's progress.

It makes me sick to think so called "God fearing" people have the balls to blame the Devil for making them do things when the bible says God gave people free will to make their own decisions. I find it absolutly appalling that anyone could do what Joshua Maudlin did to any human being, let alone a helpless baby. My daughter was born 2 months early, and I fought tooth and nail to keep her alive and healthy. I would gladly lay down my life for her and kill anyone that would harm her. Any one that thinks that being a Christian makes people good and just is just inhaling alot of brimstone. Satan didn't make him do it, he made himself do it.

If religion is to blame when someone does something like this, what is to blame when an atheist like Leon Trotsky or Pol Pot commit millions and millions to horrible deaths?

Or when an athesit co worker who constantly gave me trouble at work was caught having sex with his underage niece?

Or when an atheist at school got caught selling exams before tests?

Or when athesistic scientists work on more and more improved weapons of mass destruction?

etc., etc., etc.

let us hope that the cps is successful. the kid might be dead before ten if she goes back to her family.

Wondering Jew, the number of atheists guilty of anything pales in comparison to the number of believers responsible for inhuman crimes.

Blogger Audie said...
Hey blabbering jew, I do not claim to have some god of holy spirit to keep me in line. When I fuck-up, I don't blame some devil or demon. I, as well as most other non-believers take responsibility for my own actions. T
