News of interest to former Christians

Tavares FL. - A Pastor who repeatedly molested a parishioner's grandson was sentenced Wednesday to seven years in prison.

Douglas Myers, 57, the former pastor of Triangle Community Church in Eustis, listened impassively, his head bowed, as a prosecutor read a letter from the boy's mom.

"You believe in God?" the letter demanded. "How, then, in God's eyes, could you do this?"

Myers pleaded guilty to lewd and lascivious molestation.

Court records show he had sexual contact with the boy, then 13, during a six-month period in the youth's grandmother's home.

Myers befriended the boy, now in high school, by driving him to school, taking him to Walt Disney World and giving him money.

Myers had been a clergyman for 30 years.

What the pastor did is an abomination in the eyes of the Lord. Not only molestation of an young boy but every form of sexual activity outside the marriage between a man and a woman is a grave sin. The Bible makes it clear to us that God will judge every person guilty of promiscuity.
However, we shall remember that these days we are hearing many cases of church leaders molesting parishioners because we allowed homosexuals to enter the churches. These homosexuals simply cannot hold their pants up in the presence of young teens. That is why we say that homosexuality is the worst of all sexual sins because it do not care even the young children. But if we follow the Bible we can keep ourselves from the contamination of our culture through gays and lesbians. It is time we should realize before more gays and lesbians take over our institutes and prey on our young.

Wow! Very broad generalization you gave that time, Paul.

Let's see, according to Paul, gay male pastors are raping little boys while heterosexual male pastors are raping little girls. That about covers all the kids.

Maybe a solution to this terrible pastor problem would be to require all male pastors to become eunuchs. "If thy hmm, hmm offends thee, CUT IT OFF!"

BTW, Paul, pedophilia has nothing to do with being gay or heterosexual. It has to do with being sexually attracted primarily or exclusively to prepubescent or peripubescent children.

The gross ignorance of some Christians is simply astounding. Paul, that makes you astounding.

Have you heard of preachers molesting young girls? This site has been full of such stories.

The cause of these things, paul, is not being homosexual or hetersexual. Few gays or lesbians molest kids, and few heterosexuals molest kids. I will inform you about the cause of these "abominations".

The cause is the xian religion, which interferes with a person's ability to accept his sexual identity. Teach a child growing up that his sexual feelings are simply a part of who he is, and there will be no trouble. But introduce sick, twisted notions like sin and guilt and god's wrath, and you will produce sick and twisted people. People who become preachers. Teach a man to be ashamed of who he is, and I will guarantee there will be trouble.

By the way, your choice of words "they cannot hold their pants up" is really funny. What secret fantasy made you say that?

Let me amend your statement about "allowing homosexuals into the church". Blame yourselves for allowing hypocrites into the church. Clean up your own act--dont blame gays and lesbians. xianity breeds molesters like a dead pig breeds maggots.

I'm gay. I'm not a pedophile.
And guess what: I am not afraid of some god judging me. I may not have chosen to be gay, but I can accept myself jsut fine.

And paul, these people are going to be on you like brown on shit. I guess you xian beliefs made you a masochist.

No Paul, it's shows an abomination to human sanity!

This plainly shows that he had been a preacher for over 30 years and the congregation could not tell if this man was a man of God or a pervert from God, because no one is called by a god to preach to begin with.

All preachers are liars and fakes, without exception.

Yeah I can see Bro. Paul sitting in his church nodding his head up and down in agreement with his pastor, when the pastor says, "It's just like Sodom and Gomorrah today, come up and get saved today."

While Paul's pastor is thinking about how he was sucking a little boys wee wee that very morning.

Way to go Paul, you've showed us how your pastors and your religion works.

That pastor violated that boy's private domain of human deciency!

That boys civil rights were violated to grow up and not be mentally affected for the rest of his life.

He put his trust in this man because he had been told by his grandmother that he was a man of God, just another religious lie.

The pastor should be executed today.

Blogger Harlequin said...
No, Bill, he shouldn't be executed. He should simply be placed in general population in jail, and the inmates informed.

7 years as E-Wing bitch should straighten him out (although the chances of him not getting paroled are slim... Those Parole boards love religious folk)

As to Paul... it's either great satire, or the man shouldn't be allowed sharps.

Love and hugs (and big tonguey kisses to Paul)

Grandpa Harley

Just for the record, I am another Gay man without a single desire to have sexual contact with children. This canard that all Gay folk are paedophiles is obscene.

Btw, they do not allow intermingling with other prisoners these days, that was 10-20 years ago, things have changed in prison, prisoners have certain civil rights even in prison.

Ever wonder which hand your pastor uses to masturbate?

Gee Paul, it seems once again you are having to distinquish yourself from other Christians (i.e. they're not True Christians). At this rate, you'll eventually have it whittled down to just one person ...you.

It might have bee an abomination to the Lord. But, The Preacher he is suffering mans penalty for breaking mans law. "Who did cain marry, his sister, who did lot have sex with? his daughters thats who... God can make anything right, "(Man Can't)" thats what God's adjudication means (Judging)" To: Judge) is to set things right that were wrong...setting things right, it to judge or Adjudicate...

Bravo Paul. Way to turn a story about taking away the innocence of a young boy and turning into a rant about homosexuals. You should be ashamed of yourself. But, of course, you're not going to be. The religious doctrine has eaten away at your common sense and made you believe the lie that homosexuals are preditors. Please pull your head out of your ass and get a clue.

Anonymous Anonymous said...
Six months this went on! That makes, what, about 24 sermons and how many alter calls during this time? Sick.

Paul wrote:

"These homosexuals simply cannot hold their pants up in the presence of young teens".

Paul, how do you know this? Or are you JUDGING? Remember, "Judge Not..."

Here we go again, an xtain making claims about something he has no knowledge about.

The pastor is a pedophile. Pedophiles can be hetrosexual, homosexual or bisexual.

I suggest before making claims such as you made that you do your research or maybe that's the problem, you don't research you just believe what your idiotic pastor has told you.

Here's a link to information on the profile of a pedophile. Happy researching Paul. http://www.mental-health-matters.com/articles/article.php?artID=273

Typical Christian tactic, Paul. The minute there's a story about something terrible that a Christian did, you post in saying, "What he did was terrible BUT [insert statement blaming somebody other than the culprit, and/or change the subject.]"

Anonymous Anonymous said...
Wow--Paul, here is a personal Stevie P. F@ck You! As an openly gay male, one who is PROUD of his sexuality and his partner of 7 years, I'm adament that no gay individual I know has EVER molested a child. Your fear induced myth is not only offensive, insulting, and laughable, it's HATEFUL. It's the same rethoric one would expect FROM A CHRISTIAN! So, allow me to tell you where you can STICK THAT BIBLE; however, I'm sure it wouldn't gain entry for it would be blocked by the enormous "lack of self esteem" you shave shoved up your ass?!

Paul,
I would like to add one more thing to your rant of "church people" taking advantage of youth. How about your very impressionable (no matter how imaginary) Mary was at the tender young age of 13 when the either your diety or Joseph (a man) took complete advantage of her body!

As Christians, we are called to be ambassadors of Christ; to show his love and truth and constantly strive to become more like Him. I think that many times we think that those called to the ministry are able to do this without any struggles, temptation, or satan on the prowl at every possible point in which one could stumble. There is no excuse for what this pastor did, and no denying that it was wrong. But, for those of us who believe in the Gospel of Jesus Christ along w/ the entire Word of God, we know that all sins are equal in the sight of the Lord, although on earth there are different judgements and consequences. We were at all at one point doomed bc of our sin, homosexual or not, and it's not about getting over the sin and then going to God, it's about seeking God and then He helps us with our sin! Some sin are easier to hide then others. One could lie numerous times towards his family and still have a good reputation at church, where if two people of the same sex show up at church (which should be a place where US SINNERS go to thank God for HIS GRACE) they are shunned away and the idea of love is unthinkable.
To end this, which has become more of a tangent...I am trusting in the Lord that this pastor for his 30 yrs of serving did not always have these actions. We all know that Satan wants to tempt those who are actually keeping people from joining in his agony. Why would he go after those who don't care in people's eternity? Just look at David and Paul. I know in my life, sin has snuck up on me so slowly that by the time i've noticed it, it was up to my neck. It might have not been something that was easy for others to spot, but it was still sin, and keeping me from being close in my relationship w/ God. Thankfully nothing can make God love us any less or any more than He already does and He is a God who forgives, yes He judges, but He judges ALL of us for our actions AND responses. This pastor messed up, but I trust the Lord can clean Him up. And as for the child, it's awlful what he went through, but thankful He can be conforted by the love of Jesus Christ and the knowledge that our God doesn't mess up. I hope that we are able to learn to love others, and let our hatred for sin focus more on a personal level than on everyone elses.

To the anony-bot poster directly above:

Satan wants to tempt me to molest a child?

You know what, I can be tempted to drink one too many beers, to smoke a cigar, to look at a naked picture in a Playboy magazine, or to have another serving of desert. But, no one could tempt me to molest a little boy, no matter how powerful they are.

Do you really think this pastor was just suddenly, out of the blue, tempted to have sex with a kid?

Give me a break.

I'm sorry people, when Christians say things this stupid, I have to wonder if brain damage isn't a secondary effect of faith.

Anonymous Anonymous said...
no, i do not believe this pastor was just tempted out of the blue to molest a child. and we're not even 100% sure if they had "sex,". molestation is different, though there is still no excuse! you seem though, to have no problem putting words wherever you'd like to. It must be nice to be so confident in yourself to know your boundaries of sin, it's almost as if you know what you would or wouldn't let yourself do; or is that just choosing your sin (purposfully doing it) This pastor's actions may have started out with pornography, which suprisingly enough if is not only the world's but the CHURCH'S #1 DIRTY LITTLE SECRET because it seems so easy to hide at first. There's a church xxxchurch.com, that visit different places and discusses the danger of pornagraphy and the church. One can get addicted to that alone to a certain extent in 5 days alone. There must be a great level of shame one experiences when they have an addiction like this, especially when they know it's wrong and are in the ministry (but atleast they aren't having sex with little kids right?) Not exactly. Like any addiction, they grow and fester and take control of many parts of one's life and there have been hardly any cases where they have linked pornagraphy with child molesters. So lets say this pastor had a heart for kids before looking at pornagraphy, many man do, many Godly men, and that's a great thing bc so often boys need father figures. Now, lets say time goes by and this pastor begins to look at porn, regular porn. The addiction grows (but is still a secret) then he looks at child porn. He's around children a lot. He can't get these sinful thoughts out of his head and is living in shame every moment of his life. Now you might say "well i would step down, or tell the truth about my addiction,"but most of us know we can not comprehend the grosss depth of our sinful nature, so I guess you are holy enough already.

And by the way, it's very cold to say "satan wants to tempt me to moslest a child." You have know idea what torment believers are faced w/ every day and temptation they overcome because of their trust in Jesus Christ, knowing He is their strength, which shows much more devotion and gives much more reward. And if you say this type of Christianity is stupid, just learn more about my teacher, Jesus!

I'm sorry i wrote w/ some frustration. I really hope your heart becomes able to love beyond actions, with still knowing what's right and wrong in the eyes of the Lord.

Anony, I was a Christian -- a devoted, sold-out, born again, evangelical, witnessing, home-group-leading, Christian -- for 30 years. I know what "temptation" from a Christian perspective is all about.

And, I've viewed my share of hardcore porn, too.

I admit that I do find fully grown adult women in erotic poses and situations quite provocative, but little boys and girls have never done a thing for me either as a Christian or as an atheist.

I think you might be projecting your own perversity onto others. Perhaps you should get some professional help before you act out and victimize an innocent child in a similar manner to this supposed Holy-Ghost-called-and-filled preacher of the Gospel.

If your god is so weak that He can't empower his own called servants away from the heinously grievous sin of molesting minors, I can't imagine why anyone would continue to bother with His worship.

Sincerely.
