JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- The pastor of an Atlantic Beach church was arrested Wednesday as part of a prostitution sting.

According to police, Jerry Murrell, 28, pastor of Oceanside Church of Christ, was charged with soliciting for prositution after he approached an undercover vice officer posing as a prostitute in the 1600 block of Mayport Road.

The report said Murrell agreed to pay the woman $30 for intercourse.

The arrest report indicates that police have an audio recording of the exchange.

Murrell was booked into the Duval County jail, but posted bond and was released.

And Jesus bent over and scribbled something in the sand,("I don't have $30") so he said Mary, go thy way and sin no more.

I don't do the prostitute thing, but don't think this guy should be arrested for engaging in such a transaction.

Even worse, the undercover cop probably enticed him. I'm an ex-Christian, agnostic, etc., but this pastor guy got, uh, screwed by the cops.

Maybe he should just pray about this and hand his penis over to Jesus! Jesus will take that hard on away from him! With Jesus all things are possible! LOL LOL

If ever there was a crime that shouldnt be illegal, prostitution and hiring them shouldnt be. But even if it were legal everywhere, the holy man would still be in hot water from his church becuase of the stupid sexual silliness Christians impose on the flock and it's leaders.

I'm no bible scholar but didn't Jesus love prostitutes! There's no tellin what good ole Jesus did with them hookers! I agree with the previous poster. I think its an outrage that prostitution is not legal in the entire USA like it is in some parts of nevada! Its a win win situation! Neighborhoods don't have to deal with the nuisance and hypocritical christ lovin Fundys can do it in secret LEGALLY!

Finally,a decent pastor! He chose to go to a prostitute rather than take advantage of one his young nubile followers. I salute you pastor Jerry!

Hope this incidence might open his eyes to the powerlessness of jesus to keep us from our natural urges,..and quits the ministry of course.

Isn't that what the hooker was offering to do? Maybe the guy was thinking that Jesus already had a lot on his plate, and didn't want to bother him unnecessarily.

What do you think about NBC's "Dateline NBC" setting up sting operations netting online predators?
It seems that it nets a lot of people of different backgrounds.
To that end it is effective. But it also has collateral effects such as the Prosecutor who committed suicide after being 'stung.'
"A prosecutor in this Northeast Texas town killed himself Sunday as police tried to arrest him on charges of soliciting sex from a minor over the Internet."
If you haven't seen Dateline's operation MSNBC has a video to check this out:

Also what do you think of the ACLU's attempt to help promoters of child pornography?

You're joking, right? The "evidence" in your link is a statement (with no supporting facts) from an enthusiastic Amazon customer review of an anti-ACLU book written by the president and vice-president of the Alliance Defense Fund, the two guys who brought us "The Homosexual Agenda: Exposing the Principal Threat to Religious Freedom Today."

It strikes me odd that there is such a furor over a pastor getting stung yet when it's the head(now former head, Charles Rust-Tierney) of a local ACLU office caught with the most offensive type of child porn, it goes completely without mention by you.(http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2007/05/10/AR2007051002082.html#)
But that's ok (by you) since it's your objective to point out the sins of the religious and not the reverse.
Like when 21 year old Matthew Shepherd was horribly murdered, there was nation wide outrage, and rightfully so. But you and the left wing media virtually ignored the murder of 13 year old Jesse Dirkhising, who was tortured, raped, sodomized and murdered by two homosexual adults. And on and on it goes.

Hey Troll,

You are absolutely correct. There are a lot of shitty, perverse, ignorant, and obnoxious people out there. You'd be one of the obnoxious ones.

The point with the pastors is that these men claim to be magically filled with a holy spook that has forever changed their lives.

The point, is that Christianity is bullshit.

Have a nice day, troll.
