News of interest to former Christians

WEST MEMPHIS, AR -- A community is shocked to learn that one of their religious leaders is facing criminal charges, but it's not just any charges he's facing. The West Memphis man is accused of secretly videotaping an underage girl and not only is the suspect a pastor, but he also is a newly-elected member of the Crittenden County Quorum Court.

It all started on Friday, July 7th when Charlotte Moten made a complaint that she had found a video camera in her 14-year-old daughter's bedroom. The accused suspect, 61 year old Jack Moten, also lives in the home on South 12th Street in West Memphis.

After using a search warrant at his home Tuesday, police arrested Moten and charged him with a Class D Felony of voyeurism and video voyeurism against a girl. While reading the charges to the judge at Moten's court arraignment, the court official said Moten did not deny the charges to police.

"Upon interview, the defendant admitted to placing it there," read the court official to the judge.

After the arrest, police also issued a protection order for the girl's safety.

"He was entering the protection order into the computer, when he discovered that this Jack Moten was also wanted in Shelby County, Tennessee for fraud and identity theft charges," says Mike Allen, the West Memphis Assistant Police Chief.

The Tennessee charges stem from 2005, in which Moten allegedly used a false identity of an elderly nursing home patient to buy a Cadillac Escalade from Bud Davis Cadillac in Memphis. Once the hearing ended and bond was set, Moten's family and neighbors left in an uproar, some outraged by the charges and others feeling differently

"Whatever that happens I think it's what he deserves," claimed a neighbor of Moten.

"He's a minister. He's a nice neighbor. The charges are ridiculous. I really believed he's been framed," says Sylvia Breton, a longtime neighbor of Moten.

And some had even stronger things to say.

"He's nothing but a pedophile and a pervert," says one women of Moten.

We later caught up with some West Memphis residents who have known Moten for years and Mattie Davis says she knew him as a good person in the community and was shocked to hear the news.

"If it happened, it certainly would have to be proven to me before I believe it. He never appeared to be that type of person. He was a family person," says Mattie Davis, a longtime West Memphis resident.

Moten's bond was set at $35,000 and he is set to appear again before judge on August 29th.

God works in such mysterious ways!
God has a message in this for him. I would be willing to bet it was the 14 year old girl's camera taking nudes of him, a man of God, nude?

Maybe God is looking for another virgin girl to send an angel to inseminate, so we can crucify him and everyone can worship our new age Jesus.

Maybe it's all a hoax and all preachers are a con men and maybe all religions are fake and total nonsense! Nah!!!

Either way, he'll just get a slap on the wrist, you can't hold a man of God guilty, in a court of law.

What is it about pastors?

JOHN LOFTUS, your own local hero who wrote about Why He Rejected Christ, says that pastors are often targeted.

In his case in fact, which of course was different from this one, a woman accused him of rape.

She was a lying vixen of course, and an ex stripper...and his boss.

Oh, he admits he had been having an affair with her...its all in his book...but she conned him and seduced him he reports.

You see, as an ex stripper (I assume she must have been a least a D Cup) she was quite a temptation!

This was the tradgedy that began the downward spiral to his deconversion...altough he was married, how could GOD have placed this lucious ex stripper in his path and allowed him to be tempted?

Oh, its just to CRUEL!!!

What a tradgedy.

HOW could the poor man have resisted?

Why, according to the logic of his book...only atheism could follow.

He probably didn't have the mental capacity to figure out that a strange video camera, left in the girls room, running, would be detected.

He has spent most of his life believing and repeating more unbelievable shit than that. For instance; (Insert your favorite bible passage here.............)

Dan P.S.: All voyeur's are not pastors, and all pastors are not voyeur's, perverts, thieves, and otherwise immoral people. It ain't easy being a good person when your God is a killer of babies, condones slavery, demands that you worship him, or he will roast you forever, impregnates his own children (Another guy's betrothed), just so he can have a half human son that he can have murdered as a sacrifice to himself to make up for sin that he created himself, etc.

It's hard being a God, when people and babies get in the way, then they must be killed. A God must be worshipped, especially every Sunday, I demand it! I also need all your money! Yes I too, need to lust after another man's betrothed and impregnat her, for my own pleasure, but it must be eventually killed...hehehehe. And sin, Ohhh how I hate sin, I just hate it, although I created Satan and sin, I just hate it, but if I destroy sin, I will have to destroy myself, and we would'nt want that would we? hehehehe I love the sinner though, I love the sinner more than the christain, because I have won the christians soul, but the sinner, I have other plans for them, hahahahahahhahhahahhahaahhahahaa

Hey, YIG, since when do aheists have a problem killing bablies?

If I may reply to ex atheist. . .

You asked "since when do aheists have a problem killing bablies?"

Answer: Ever since the human animal has formed society. Morals and ethics are evolutionally designed to help the survival/adaptation of our species.

I guess it makes atheists more moral than God though, since he doesn't have a problem killing babies.

BTW ex atheist, why don't you actually adress the issues posed by YIG instead of propping up the straw man?

So it's Ok with you that your phoney make believe God kills babies and people and animals.

Read Genesis 7:21

You worship a murderer!
If you condone murder, then you are a murderer. (Goldie)

Atheists are in no position to pass any moral judgments whatsover.

So YIG presents no issues.

If not for God, you wouldn't even exist to be bellyaching if not for him.

In the meantime he can do whatever the HELL he wants.

Don't like it?

Too Damn bad.

Hey, “EX-ATHEIST,” in case you didn't notice, this website is called "exchristian.net." That means, most of the members are former Christians, and they once believed what you do. They’ve all heard what you’re preaching – many, many, many times before. In fact, many of them formerly preached it themselves. But when their religion became less than satisfactory, they began to question it.

The overwhelming majority of the ex-christians here conducted active research into the history of the bible and the times in which it was written and canonized. For most of us, our quest for knowledge included research into other religions as well, including the older pagan religions that were incorporated into judaism and christianity. You'll even find many here who have studied linguistics in order to get a better understanding of the meaning of the bible and the earlier texts from which it was assembled.

When someone converts from fundamental christianity after an intellectual pursuit of this nature, they do not necessarily become atheists but they do NOT go back to putting “faith” into mythology. For this reason, I do not believe that you were ever really an atheist (unless you simply mean that you didn’t attend church or think deeply about religious matters prior to becoming a christian – in which case you don’t really understand the word atheist.)

But, maybe I’m wrong. So, I think it would be really interesting if you could tell us what kind of study and logical thinking went into you becoming an atheist AND what was the rational (i.e., non-emotional) basis of you rejecting atheism for christianity.

Frankly, I don’t believe you are intellectually up to the challenge and that if we hear from you again, it will just be more of the same sniping and name-calling. But, please, feel free to prove me wrong.

Alas ex-atheist is Emmanual Goldstein, he has escaped the institution for the mentally deranged. He has chewed through his straight jacket again, the only solution would be to pull all two of his teeth.

He sneaks on here ex-tian, about once a month in what he thinks is a clever disguise.

He was born in a mentally disfunctional(christian)family and he blames his mental illness on Atheism.

We'll have him back in pink security(imbecile ward)shortly.

Please ignore any posts by ex-atheist or Emmanual Goldstein or a new poster that posts insane and anti-atheist nonsense, with our apology.

Even monkeys can pick locks and figure how to escape their captors.

For those with issues with John Loftus, please address him personally at http://debunkingchristianity.blogspot.com.

For me it wasn’t just my affair that led me to reject Christianity. I could’ve gotten beyond the damage that had done to my faith. It was being cut off from the church, of which the affair with her was the catalyst. Taken together with the information I learned from my cousin Larry, and the subsequent church experiences I had in my other cousin Jeff’s church, I eventually came to reject my former faith.

By the way, haven't you seen documentaries on TV where a con-artist (male or female) got someone to marry them for their money and then killed them? There are people out there like that. She wasn't that bad, of course, but she was a modern day Potipher's wife who sought to destroy me because I was speaking out against pronography in town. And I never said is wasn't my fault, either.

So Mariana Trench doesn't believe Ex Atheist is really an ex atheist?

To begin with, I don't believe her name is Marian Trench!

Secondly, I do no believe she is an EX Christian.

In fact, I "lack belief in her claim" that she was ever a Christian at all.

How about them apples!

I believe that there can be no doubt that "anti-atheist" is a "True Christian™"

Your posts are striking examples of the very real ugly side of Christianity. Thanks for the help.

That's fine, though she can actually show evidence for her claims, unlike christians.
