The pastor of Garden View Baptist Church was arrested Friday on a charge of soliciting for prostitution, the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office reported.
Doyle Lynn Harper, 48, of the Garden City area of
Jacksonville Florida was charged during a prostitution sting conducted by police in the 7300 block of North Main Street Saturday afternoon.
A man circled the area near Main and 65th streets several times in his automobile, then made eye contact with an undercover female officer, according to the arrest report. He motioned for her to approach. He was sitting in his car as she walked up and asked what he was looking for.
The man told her he wanted oral sex, police said. He agreed to pay $20 for it, and then Harper was arrested.
A woman who answered the phone at Harper's home Saturday declined to comment.
People at the church, which is just south of Interstate 295 on Armsdale Road, said they had rented the building for a private concert Saturday evening that was separate from normal church activities. They declined to comment.
Harper helped the church move into its new 49-acre property at Armsdale off Lem Turner Road in 2001. Before then, the church was further south off Lem Turner.
Harper has been pastor of the church for eight years. The son of a pastor, Harper attended Clear Creek Baptist College in
Pineville, Ky., and earned his doctorate at Baptist Seminary in
Andersonville, Ga.

I have to wonder, however, how many sermons he preached against "fornicators"? His congregation probably went home feeling horrible about themselves because they had sexual desires.
This story reminded me about the line from "Good Morning Vietnam":
Cronauer to Sergeant Major Dickerson: "You know. You are in more dire need of a blow job than any white man in history".
Apparently, that was what the pastor was thinking about himself after giving one of his anti-fornicating sermons.
Can you imagine the guilt trips they could give each other. There would be a lot of bible quoting between these two.
The Harper Brothers were formed in September of 1998.
The group consists of Doyle Harper (Tenor), Jeff Harper (Lead), and Wayne Blackmon (Baritone). Jeff is the son of Doyle and Wayne is Doyle's uncle.
It is very much a family ministry.
The Harper Brothers were formed to first and foremost lift the name of Jesus. Then secondly to show the world that it is fun being saved! If ever the world needed a little good news it's the days in which we are living.
The pastor is nothing more than just a human being, getting paid to tell people what they want and expect to hear. It doesn't mean he has to actually believe the words he speaks, he's an actor who got caught with his pants.
Public records show that Doyle R. Harper(48) and wife Sherry H. Harper(46) still live in Jax, FL, with their son Jeff R. Harper(26). There also appears to be a Sabrina L. Harper(26), Susan W. Harper(46), and Amy Harper??? who show up. I wonder where they fit in the mix. This group requires their names to be associated due to their business relationship.
Gobbler
In other words, drunk drivers drive drunk frequently and finally get caught. Shoplifters steal multiple times before being stopped.
I would wager that Doyle's behavior is habitual - he just finally got caught.
So much for the "old man" being crucified.
"Old man" is "Christian speak" for our "carnal nature." "Carnal nature" is "Christian speak" for having a normal, but unfulfilled, male sex drive. Being Baptist is hell.)
That's unless you were married to me when I was still a Baptist. This girl was in noway repressed.
Sidenote: Former pastor of South Tulsa Baptist Church pleaded not guilty to charges of soliciting a lewd act in an OKC court earlier this week.
I'm surprised he's not a serial killer!
You must have us confused with another web site. We think your god is a myth, and hence have no feelings toward her whatsoever. Do you hate Zeus? I didn't think so. But thanks so much for your concern, and you diligence in reading the thousand or so posts here that make that perfectly clear. Bye now.
I know that I am wasting my time because you (like so many like you), come by, drop their little turd and then leave, never checking back to see if it still stinks.
You Said:
"I found this website by complete mistake, looking up a dear friends unfortunate mistake."
- interesting pursuit, why didn't you accidently leave?
You Continue:
"You know, I sit here and read all the things said on this site about a man who fell short of the glory of God... and that is what we all do... fall short. 'For all fall short of the glory of God'"
- of course you didn't notice the site name "www.EXchristian.net". So, you wouldn't assume that we have already heard that one, oh, a hundred thousand times already.
You Cont.:
"(Its in the bible. Look it up...)"
- We've heard of it before, some of us have read a few passages. That's why we call it the "Buy Bull"
You:
"I am a personal friend of this family, and I have known them for over 15 years. Doyle, Sherry, Jeff and Sabrina, along with Jeff and Sabrina's spouses and children and other family members are going through something unimaginably hard right now."
- I'm sure that never stopped the pastor from inflicting his sermons or judgements on "the poor sinners of the world" without regard for their family situations, or their internal conflicts.
You:
"They don't need web sites like this looking into their personal records, or trying to snoop into their family business."
- YOU don't need web sites like this. WE do. THEY (the family) might need it after they realize that the pastor, his religion and his judgements are all bullshit.
You:
"NO ONE is PERFECT, no matter how hard they try to be. We as Christians strive to be like God but we all stumble, we all fall... I am in no way justifying what Brother Harper did, and I am in no way saying it is acceptable for a man who preaches against such things to partake in them."
- Yet, you have not figured-out that it is all Bullshit! People have a drive to have sex. They have a drive for food and water. It is how we survive as a species. It's natural - so is homosexuality! It's okay. People should never have to experience shame just because someone else has told them to live their life a particular way.
You:
"However, all I am asking for is a little empathy for this family at this time."
- All we are asking of you is some empathy for those of us who have felt like christianity has robbed them of their life - like me!
You:
"How would you feel if this was your own?"
- Happy that someone got some pressure release?
You:
"I am hurt as a Christian that he let this happen but I am also encouraged in the same way because it shows that no one can escape satan's temptations, not pastors, nor priests, nor congregation members such as myself."
- DING! DING! DING! DING! We have a winner! The reason it IS all bullshit! No personal responsibility! If something good happens to you - it's GOD! If something bad happens - the DEVIL Made You Do It! Hang in there, you'll see it to!
You:
"But God will see this family through this,..."
- If you say so.
You:
"... whether you choose to believe it or not is your own decision. I only hope that whatever caused you to have such bitter feelings against God will bring you back to him."
- Just when I think that you are making progress... You still haven't figured it out yet! It is not a bitterness towards God. It is a bitterness against the men (like your pastor) who inflict the world with that poison.
You:
"I've been there too, and I am in no way perfect or sinless now."
- Take it easy on yourself. Just follow through with some personal responsibility and enjoy the only life that you will have in the body that you were born with. You were born okay the first time.
"But I do believe. God bless the Harper family..."
- okay...
Yes we all fall short of the glory of God, who was it that said
that? OH yea, it was Paul or Saul or somebody, do ya really think that God wrote that, we all fall short of the glory of god?
I've been wanting to rob a bank, but I will not, I've been wanting to molest little girls, but I do not and why do I not act on my insane thoughts? Because I know it's wrong to do wrong things. How do I know it's bad to do wrong things? Because I've always known since birth, and I am not a friggin christian, I don't need a damn book written over 2000 years ago to tell me what is right and wrong, neither does anyone else, nor do I need a fake pretend preacher to tell me right from wrong. neither does anyone else.
You people are making excuses for your insanity and digging excuses out of a phoney make believe bible, anyone that claims to be a christian or preacher is nothing more than a self-righteous psychotic cretin, you all need to be locked up with your phoney Jesus and see who will move the stone, I sure as hell will not move the damn stone, I'll let you all rot and let you all beg for mercy to your imaginary god and Jesus, and see who will save you, guess what? it will not be your phoney god or jesus, you bunch of brainless cowards.
You idiots come on here making excuses for your phoney preacher who has licked every square inch of your anal orfice to the hilt, and now you feel obligated to bail these rodents out because of their short commings.
Let me tell you nutjob christins, there is not a one person that claims to be a preacher that would not be willing to cut your friggin head off, if they thought for one second, they could get away with it. Why do you think some looney wrote the bible in the first place....huh duhhhhh? Because the bastards were completeluy insane, they invented god and the bible to get forgiveness for their insane deeds and thoughts just like you christians, you're all completely positively insane, the only difference is that you all refuse to admit that you're completely insane, but deep down inside, you know that you are, otherwise you would not worship a false imaginary figure wrote down in a friggin book, you christians are an elite sick bunch of wacko's, you all need a healthy dose of reality and you'll certainly not get truth or reality from a stinking church or a make believe stinking bible, neither will you ever hear any truth from your phoney bogas preacher.
What do you christians think gives you all the right to elect and pay a jackass phoney preacher to read false scripture and tickle your foolish ears?
Faith = pretend, you don't have enough faith, means that you need to pretend more.
Christians are no different than Muslims, you're all passionately insane. This is free and you better read it all over again, a thousand times if necessary.
That's some all-loving god you worship there anony. If you kiss his ass in this life, then you will be saved from the fiery pit. Thanks for warning us! Do you tell everyone your god loves them unconditionally?
Anony said: "But, if you don't, one day all these harsh....MORE BS....we (Christians) were right, & in the END, we WILL win the battle!"
You better hope Islam is not the right religion. Allah doesn't like it when you pray to Jesus.
What battle are you talking about anyway? Are you talking about the Crusades, the Inquistion, the killing of the native indians in the U.S. by Christians? The battle is in your head my friend.
Anony, please educate yourself on world religions. You will find Christianity is a plagiarized religion. You're just parroting what your preacher told you, and you accepted it...all based on fear.
After a while you just feel sorry for these fear mongering Christians.
Cheers
"Bro. Doyle is human. We need to remember this."
And we also need to remember that of Bro Doyle like hookers. Can I get an Amen!
"As CHRISTIANS we need to pray for him and his family."
Well, Bro Doyle has been turned over to a reprobate mind so why would you suggest that we pray and for what, to change god's mind ---? Tick! Tock!
I agree, prayer changes things and this is what the Harper family needs.
Since GOD is a forgiving GOD aren't we suppose to be forgiving also???
Oh well.
but when an average joe needs a BJ, that same church community says "YOU KNOW THAT GUY'S ASS IS GOING TO END UP IN HELL!" because lust is a sin.
nooo, they're not hypocrites at all
