KYOTO JAPAN -- A church founder accused of 22 counts of rape and sexual assault against seven girls was sentenced to 20 years' imprisonment by the Kyoto District Court on Tuesday.
Handed the prison sentence was Tamotsu Kin, 62, founder of the Seishin Chuo Kyokai church in Yawata, Kyoto Prefecture.
"He abused his position as a pastor, which is looked on with awe and reverence as someone close to God, and habitually committed the crimes," Presiding Judge Takeshi Uegaki said. "His actions were extremely malicious, to a level unparalleled by other sex crimes."
Kin was convicted of sexually violating seven girls aged between 12 and 16 in his pastor's office and other locations between March 2001 and September 2004. He faced charges for 22 attacks, including one attempted sexual assault.
On a regular basis, Kin preached that followers would "suffer in hell" if they resisted him, creating a situation in which his victims couldn't resist him, the court said.
Prosecutors said the charges they had laid against Kin were "the tip of the iceberg."
"He left the victims with scars that are difficult to heal," a representative of the prosecution team said. "In the public hearings, the defendant merely said he would not argue against the charges, and didn't divulge the truth. He has not offered the slightest apology."
During the trial, the victims presented statements, including one that said, "Not only has he failed to apologize, but his statements in the public hearings have been nothing but lies."
A group to support the victims has offered counseling, while the Kyoto Prefectural Government set up a project team using child consultation centers and clinical psychologists to care for the girls. A representative of the group that supports them said they are likely to need long-term care.
The victims have launched a damages suit in the Kyoto District Court against Kin and the church. The church has acknowledged that five of the girls were abused, but is arguing that is bears no legal responsibility and is not required to pay compensation.

there is such a thing called,.
"A Man Of Gaud",...they don't exist! If people would stop putting trust in these self
proclaimed "holy men",this would all come to a halt! I would never leave my child with a minister,..
....EVER!
Roger
Exactly Kooky, exactly!
There is no Holy Spirit guiding these people into all truth, sanctifying them, or leading them on any magical mystery tours.
Christians, Muslims, Animists, et al, they're just following religions created by men during terribly ignorant times in human history.
Have a nice day.
Well apparently you do not get it do you?
Atheists do not get up in public and make fantastic claims that they've been called from an invisible entity and that this entity is going to punish you if you do not heed to what they say.
Atheists do not claim to be a religious authority.
Atheists do not build brainwashing boxes and call it a house of god.
Atheists do not get up in front of people and intimidate them to believe in their insane beliefs.
Atheists do not intimidate people to give money so that they can play golf all week.
Atheists do not threaten people with an option to either believe in their belief or go to hell.
Atheists do not claim to be in personal contact with an invisible god.
Atheists do not pretend to talk or to pray to an invisible god.
Atheists do not get up in public and say the the bible is the absolute word from a god.
Atheists do not believe in Satan and devils and little men in a red suit sitting on their shoulder, coaxing them to commit a sin.
Atheists do not get up in public and say the ten commandments are directly from a god and then break every single commandment the following week and come back on Sunday and preach against sin.
Atheists do not believe in invisible gods, devils, jesus allah, souls, angels, things imagined in the human mind.
Atheists do not believe that by crucifying a human on a stick does not make atonement for sins.
These people who appointed themselves as teachers, priests, shamans, rabbis, and otherwise spiritual leaders were smart enough to COVER EVERY BASE. Once you are hooked, or captured by one of these cults, technically there is NO WAY OUT.
For every question you may have they have included an answer, starting with: If you doubt what is written here, question what is written here, dispute what is written here, you are on your way to HELL.
Simply put. You will go to hell for eternity if you do not believe what is written in these books.
So I repeat. Once hooked, there is no WAY OUT. (unless you get lucky)
Dano (Rationalist)
Good idea you have. Why don't you post a website showing the thefts, rapes, molestations, etc. of the atheists, agnostics and the general non-religious ex-christians. At the end of the year, we can calculate , to some extent, the morality of the "redeemed" and those who have chosen to no longer be a part of your religion.
Would you care to guess how the results would be? I have a feeling the new website would be fairly sparce of imformation.
Ben, you have so much built up anger inside you. Obviously you have had some bad church experience, but why are you so worried about other people. If you were a basketball player, and you saw people dribbling the ball with their feet, you'd give up the game and walk out of the gym calling everyone a hypocrite as you left. You absolutely cannot focus on anything but negatives as far as christianity goes can you? You can't take off your Atheist goggles and see any good in christianity. No, maybe atheists don't do those things you said, but not all Christians play golf with collection plate money either. You are absolutely wrong if you think atheists don't believe in things imagined in the human mind though. Most ideas in your head are imagined. Some atheists imagine having a beautiful wife. I hold the belief that "God" is not an imaginary idea that a human mind invented to feel safe or whatever. But go ahead Ben and believe that your a part of an idealistic human society, created by human intelligence. I wish I were like you, man I'd be so free.
Dan, your at the point now in your mind that you can't escape from YOUR own ideas. Your hooked. Because maybe one day, a friend of yours dies and you get comforted by a bible believing man that has a true passion for you and your soul. He won't want your money or any of that. He'll want to be your friend and he'll want to show you Jesus' love. So there you are, your brain will be pumping a mile a minute forcing out any kind of fracture in your beliefs. You won't want to acknowledge this man as a good man. That was just a dumb story that will probably never happen. Here's your problem with God and the Bible: your tooo focused on hell. You don't want to talk about being in the presence of your creator. I think that when someone sins, they are rejecting God and putting themselves in the fire. Imagine your at a party and your favorite actor comes up to you and you him are talking. That excited feeling you'll have won't be able to compare to the feeling you get when your in your creator's presence. So when we sin we are saying that we don't want that good feeling and if we live in sin the rest of our lives until we die, then God gives us what we have been telling him by our actions that we want: "we want to be without you" and thats hell.
exkccop, stop being a goober. Because everybody knows that atheists that rape and rob, lie and say they're christians just to make us look bad. Sike. Seriously though, I already said that doing that would solve nothing. All Groups Committ these crimes. I know a lot criminals claim to have Jesus. That doesn't mean they have him. And if they do claim him and still committ these crimes then the Devil of the Bible is all the more happier, because people like you are just more and more convinced that God is a farce. Don't be a busybody either.
You may need a God to keep you from heinous criminal behavior, but not everyone has such a weak character.
Not everyone is just like you.
Now, you have every right to believe in magic, in invisible spiritual entities, in flying undead saviors on a stick - anything you want to believe - go ahead - no one is stopping you.
However, I for one no longer believe in such nonsense, and I really don't understand why your feel compelled to argue here on a site that is specifically aimed at ex-Christians. You are a Christian, so this site is obviously not for you.
Rant and rave all you like about your favorite god, goddess, flying prophets and magic beans. Argue, fuss, complain, and try to sound logical, but you really need to keep in mind that the things characters in a story book do are just story book characters doing things.
Or as Porgy and Bess once crooned: "The things that you're liable to read in the Bible, it ain't necessarily so..."
You said "I hold the belief that 'God' is not an imaginary idea that a human mind invented to feel safe or whatever."
Okay.... is there any reason we should share that belief? Most of us have held that belief at some point, and ultimately rejected it as mistaken. There are hundreds of testimonies and other posts here explaining the reasons in detail, such as the history of Christianity (e.g. its scant historical basis, and its evident path of fantastic embellishment), the apparent borrowing of many religious motifs from more ancient religions, the contradictions and absurdities in the Christian dogma and scriptures, the rampant disagreement on fundamental issues such as salvation, even among argent believers, etc. There's actually quite a long list.
My point is this. We can articulate many reasons for believing that Christianity is simply a man-made belief system, just like every other religion. If you think otherwise, then that's fine. But don't expect anyone to be swayed by your comments if you cannot substantiate them. In particular, ad hominem attacks are simply a waste of time; they have zero value.
I like that. Well put.
You have won the "Christian of the day award" for the latest evangelical to have just dropped by exChristian.net to do a little witnessing to the heathens.
You are typical in all respects to every other Christian who has stopped by to try to convince people who are far superior in their reasoning skills, than you, that they should believe in evil spirits, good spirits, magic, miracles, and all things Biblical.
You don't read anything, or don't understand anything that suggests that the Bible is nothing more than "Bad fiction"
You don't seem to understand that it is not possible to debate a myth. You either believe it or you don't. No regular here on this site believes any myths, certainly not the Christian one.
You are the PERFECT cult member, you have your fingers in your ears, and you are going to believe every stupid concept in the bible, because the bible tells you to.
There is no hope for you Kooky, because you have held steadfast far to long in your faith. You can't give it up now, but the only thing you will have lost is a full life here on earth, in return for a really stupid concept of one when you die! (Just think, for a moment, how stupid the whole concept of heaven is)
Dan (Dano, Rationalist)
For Kooky and Co.,
1) You have zero evidence to substantiate your belief. Not too shocking.
2) Also not too shocking, yet, annoying nonetheless---you confuse the use of the word "your", with the contraction "you're". The first case shows "possession"...no, not as in possessed by "demons", but as in "ownership"....i.e.."It's *your choice to believe in the non-existant." The second case is a contraction of the words "you" and "are", as in, "Hey, *you're not exactly a pillar of intelligence, are you?"
Hey Kooky, if you cannot provide >>>objective<<< evidence to support your belief?... then you should at the very least make an attempt to come across like you made it out of grammmar school. ' Always glad to help. Take care.
What ever you call the force that created "everything," be it God, the force, it, she, or whatever, that same force made me exactly like I am. It made you exactly the way you are, it made good, it made evil, it made everything, and knows everything. It is everywhere all the time, and can do anything it wants, and at this place and time it want's me to understand that the Christian religion was founded 2000 years ago by people who thought the earth was flat, and incorporated into it every idea from every pagan religion that preceded it.
They were regular everyday people, but they didn't have the advantage of the vast amount of scientific knowledge we have today, nor the instant access via the Internet.
This instant dissemination of information will make beliefs in mythology extinct, because as soon as someone like you makes a claim about something magical or mystical, a million people will jump on it and want to know how you know it is true.
Dan (Dano)
Webmaster, i don't believe in "character". Thats an imaginary idea created by a human. Right? is that not a logical take on that word? Is it possible that some of your good character qualities may actually have been shaped when you were living as a christian. I'm not debating I'm just saying.
deep breaths Jim. I'm not attacking anyone. Its just conversation. Your right I wasn't giving facts I was just typing along. So what. If I had any type of literature that disproved or strongly countered atheist objections to the bible or Christianity you wouldn't believe a word of it anyway. So by the same tolken I don't agree with the people who you get your facts from either. I can take a third approach and say that christian and ex christian ideas are bogus and all about glory, dollars, and cents.
Dan, you are superior bro. Your like a Jedi who once was with the dark side and then arrived at the good side. And I'm an ignorant sith with a sucky pink light saber. Truth is, I have read yalls literature and it is easy to understand. Your typical compared to everyone on here because you know absolutely nothing about me and yet your acting like I'm the mouthpiece of every Christian you've ever known in your life put together.
boomslang, a: stop being a smart alek, b: this ain't no Kollege essaey
dan again, what people believed about the shape of the earth back then is erroneous. Jesus didn't come to teach us science. Keep on believing every single so-called fact you read on the stupid internet too. People lie all day long every day, and what if its not just the religious.
The word charactor means;... trait,or quality that makes up an person or group,...good or bad.
I have found that most christians with "good" charactor had it before conversion.
Certain races:...Asians for example seem to have good charactor traits as a whole
So does the name Goldie and all the other trolling names you've worn.
Maybe someday you'll grow up.
I don't think "indignant" is the right word; at least not for me. I just can't understand why believers come here to share all these wild just-so stories about what we atheists must be thinking and feeling, and then not bother to address the core issue at all, which is what evidence you have for your deity or the divine origin of your holy book. I quite honestly cannot imagine what you might be thinking, so I try to cajole visitors like you into some self-examination. Sometimes it works; mostly it doesn't.
Kooky: "...The truth is that yall do like it when a christian comes in here, so you can try to bash their brains in with your superior intellect."
That's an unsupported assertion. You know absolutely nothing about what motivates any of us.
Kooky: "You say christians intrude your website bla bla bla, but yall get a high from arguing with us,..."
Another unsupported assertion.
Kooky: "...i don't believe in 'character'. Thats an imaginary idea created by a human. Right? is that not a logical take on that word?"
Virtually *every* word in every natural language has some ambiguity or vagueness. So, in one sense, it's true that they are human constructs. But the referents for such words are often concrete and admit objective evidence. This does not seem to be the case for supernatural entities, however, so I (we) remain unconvinced that they have objective referents.
Kooky: "...If I had any type of literature that disproved or strongly countered atheist objections to the bible or Christianity you wouldn't believe a word of it anyway."
Another unsupported assertion.
Kooky: "...So by the same tolken I don't agree with the people who you get your facts from either...."
So, who are those "people" we "get our facts" from? Do you know? Or are you just assuming again?
Kooky: "...Keep on believing every single so-called fact you read on the stupid internet too...."
Who believes everything on the internet?! That would be absolutely insane. I find a lot of information on the internet, but I take NONE of it at face value; I always look to other sources for confirmation. Don't you?
wordnet.princeton.edu/perl/webwn
A) Stop being a dumb alek.
B) Go away.
C) Provide objective evidence for ANY god, let alone the X-ian biblegod.
God 'less
freddy, were cool. asian people have slanted eyes too.
webmaster, your not a psychic. good luck on trying to nail jon doe.
jim, is this accurate. I'm being serious. http://www.prophetofdoom.net/101formercontradictions.html
(it is on the internet haha)
dave, you got it.
boomslang, i like that song boom-shalaka-laka-boom by house of pain.
Are you not getting it from your "brethren"? If so,why are you here?
You must be very young. What is your age, just wondering...I'm guessing 17.
You give us a website that is full of deceit. Let me give you one example. Contradiction 87 talks about Mark 16:9. Did you know there are 9 different endings to that chapter, thus you put your faith in men.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mark_16
It also talks about the 4 authors of the gospels. Did you know the gospels are all anonymous? One person or 1000 people could've wrote them. Sorry to tell you, but you put your faith in men who compiled the bible, not any god. You've been duped into believing the mythological big sky daddy, his pathetic son, and the horny ghost.
Now kooky, are you ready to prove to me you are a True Christian(TM). Drink some drano and arsenic. If you aren't affected by this lovely concoction, then you are a true christian(TM). BTW, play with some rattle snakes; you shouldn't be affected by these animals too.
Mark 16:18 "They shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover."
Cheers
