PARMA, Ohio - The senior pastor of Parma Baptist Church in Cleveland's biggest suburb has been accused of raping a Thai immigrant and threatening to have her deported if she reported the crime.

Senior Pastor Richard G. Manning, 48, of Parma Heights, was arraigned Monday on a single felony rape count and was held on $100,000 bond to await a Thursday court hearing.

Manning arrived at the church in September after working for seven years in churches in the Oklahoma City area. Manning told police that before that he lived in Thailand for 15 years.

The woman, in her 40s, is not a member of the church. She called police on Saturday. She and Manning were introduced when he arrived in town because she is a native of Thailand, Parma police Capt. Robert DeSimone said.

She told police that Manning had raped her several times since November. Police said he coerced her into having sex by making her believe he could have her deported because she is not a U.S. citizen.

Associate Pastor Tim Shamburger said the church was aware of the charge and was waiting for the legal process to runs it course before taking any action.

There was no answer at Manning's home. A message seeking comment was left there Tuesday.

Pastor Arrested On Rape Charge
Several Incidents Involving Same Victim, Officials Say

PARMA, Ohio -- Richard G. Manning, 48, senior pastor of Parma Baptist Church, was in court Monday in connection with one count of rape.

He was ordered held on $100,000 bond.

Officials said there have been several incidents with the same alleged victim since the beginning of November 2005, with the most recent incident occurring Friday.

Manning is a new pastor at the church, according to a news release. He came to Parma in 1998 from Oklahoma City. He also lived in Thailand for 15 years.

WEWS reported Manning told the victim, who is from Thailand, that he would have her deported if she told anyone about what was going on.

These type of violations never seem to end. Seems like the power of sex can over ride the power of the brain wash

It's the same story as the virgin Mary. Mary was raped by the Priest of her church. The Priest told her that he was going to initiate her into the kingdom of God, but not to tell anyone, then she became pregnant and the Priest made up the story about visitation by Angels, even Mary and Joseph were stupid enough to believe it. This is exactly how the Jesus hoax got started. Nothing has changed in over 2000 years. Women and girls and boys will continue to be raped and molested by preachers and priests, as long as religion stands in this country and is taught and believed as pure fact.
They all use religion to get what they want, submission. The American people have been mind raped and wallet raped by preachers and priests. Look at GWB, and the christians, they all have been mind raped by preachers, and they have no clue that they are dominated by religious submission.

I have known this pastor for my entire life. My dad led him to Christ in the late 70s. I worked alongside him at one of his Oklahoma churches as pastor of youth and children for over a year. I can tell you first off that there was no rape involved, at least according to him and his wife. None of you probably know him, but I do and I know that the Richard I know would never rape or abuse anyone. Richard has failed and admitted that, but with God there is forgiveness. Besides, according to the Bible (correctly interpreted), there is no such thing as a ex-Christian, only false converts.

Anonymous: "Richard has failed and admitted that, but with God there is forgiveness."

Your god doesn't impress me... Per your bible, directly inspired by your "god"...

Rape my daughter

Judges 19:24-25 - Behold, here is my daughter a maiden, and his concubine; them I will bring out now, and humble ye them, and do with them what seemeth good unto you: but unto this man do not so vile a thing. But the men would not hearken to him: so the man took his concubine, and brought her forth unto them; and they knew her, and abused her all the night until the morning: and when the day began to spring, they let her go.

COMMENT:

Judges 19 describe a father who offers his virgin daughter to a drunken mob. When the father says "unto this man do not so vile a thing," he makes clear that sexual abuse should never befall a man (meaning him), yet a woman, even his own flesh and blood, or a concubine belonging to a perfect stranger, can receive punishment from men to do what they wish. This attitude against women still persists to this day and we have the bible, in large part, to thank for this attitude against women.

Verse 25 describes the hours long gang rape of the poor concubine. The Bible gives not one hint of passion or concern for the raped girl.

Anonymous, "rape" is a preferred punishment method for your god... perhaps, all that the pastor was trying to do, was be more like god...

Raping and killing:

Isaiah 13:15-16 - Every one that is found shall be thrust through; and every one that is joined unto them shall by the sword. Their children also shall be dashed to pieces before their eyes; their houses shall be spoiled, and their wives ravished.

These verses foretold the deaths of the people of Babylon.

Fortunately not everyone in Babylon (now modern Iraq) fell by the sword or had their children dashed to pieces or their wives raped (just another instance of errors in the bible).

Anonymous, the bible lists instances where "rape" is condoned as a legitimate activity, using situational ethics... I am sure Richard was practicing "situational" ethics... and therefore, he has done nothing wrong...

Anonymous: "Besides, according to the Bible (correctly interpreted), there is no such thing as a ex-Christian, only false converts."

Well, I suppose that's according to your rape manual (correctly interpret)... Perhaps, the more morally inclined, don't accept the filthy bible as authoritative...

You give the term "scripture twisting" sustained meaning. Once again those who are set on establishing their personal agenda are using the bible to substantiate their personal twisted beliefs of morality.

I'm in no way condoning acts of rape or molestation and by the way neither does the bible. Your tactic is no different then a reporting taking a fragmented quote and giving a meaning it was never intended to have. These quotes from the bible in no way condone rape or for that matter any other act of sex outside the confines of marriage between a man and a woman. The point the previous anonymous writer was trying to make concerning the proper interpretation of the bible is valid. Unless you take in the full context you are likely to pervert it's meaning, which you clearly have done.

Of course at least you are drawing from the bible; a good place to start. Others seem to be in left field or drawing from some unsubstantiated document...certainly something that has not even come close to the same level of securitization as the books of the bible. But hey it's easier to believe something if it tells you what you want to hear.

Being enlighten or brainwashed doesn't have to have the negative connotation we tend to give it these days. We've all had experiences where we believed falsely regarding some issue only to later have the truth revealed. But I suppose anything that changes your current beliefs is considered brainwashing so therefore should you try to enlighten me into your way of believing, I can simply avoid any further conversation by accusing you of brainwashing...it's a simple self defense mechanism for the simple minded.

By the way, aren't we a country of "innocent until proven guilty"? A court of law will determine whether or not Richard is guilty of rape...not you...not me. But then why would I think you would wait for the truth before trying to substantiate your personal agenda?

Dave8...you seem to suggest that you are "morally inclined". First of all simply stating morally inclined already admits guilt of not being totally moral. But I guess that's okay as long as you can justify your actions in your mind. And, I would like to know what morally inclined means to you. I'm willing to suggest that each individual you discuss this topic with will come up with a somewhat similar definition but each person will have their own variation on the definition. So who is correct? I certainly hope you don't suggest the individual is. And Who do you think set the benchmark for what we attempt to follow as morally acceptable. Let's take a few examples. Is it okay to tell a lie? Have you done so? How about looking at another woman/man (other than your spouse) with lust in your heart? How about stealing or disobeying your parents. The answer is...anything less than perfection is unworthy of being called morally perfect. Which brings us to this, not I, not you is morally perfect. Everyone save Christ has committed some crime against humanity and against God. The only question you need to ask yourself is whether or not you want to continue to live in a perpetual state of denial. We will all pass from this earth one day and what will are legacy be. Will we be able to look back and see a path of self absorbed destruction on humanity or will we look back and say we did what we could to clean up our mess and desperately sought out the One who can straighten our path.

The Bible says no man is good, no not one. This includes me, it includes you, it includes Billy Graham and it includes Richard. The only difference between the saint and the wicked is faith in Christ Jesus.

We fall down, we get up. A saint is just a sinner who falls down and gets back up.

I pray for this woman that she will find peace in her heart for all the wrongs in her life.

I pray for Richard, that what ever the outcome this trial reveals, he will continue to seek out the Lord in all his ways and allow Christ to use this situation so that Christ will be glorified. I pray for Richard’s wife, kids and all those who know and love him. I thank God for that fateful day in Oklahoma.

I pray for Jim Lee, Donny, Dave8 and all those who frequent this sight. I pray you will know there is only one true moral compass and that each of you will open your hearts and minds to the only one who can provide eternal salvation of our souls. My heart aches for those who will not accept this simple truth and will spend eternity dreading there choice.

Why did God have to have his "only son" with one of his female children "Mary"?
Why didn't he make a totally unique "son" out of dirt?
Why did God arrange to have his only son murdered? (Isn't that a sin?)
Why would God need a sacrifice??
Was it a sin for Jesus to allow himself to be murdered by God's other children?
If Jesus was Gods only child, does that make us step children, or half brothers and sisters?
Why didn't God just make us moral in the first place?
Where did the billions of humans and human like creatures go when they died, that preceded Jesus? (Neanderthals, etc.)
Why do you pretend to be having a relationship with an ancient Jewish rabbi that may or may not have ever lived?
Why do you put your faith in a Supreme being that has never intervened in the affairs of men?
Why would you call God good, in light of all the suffering in the world?

Why are you Anonymous?

Anonymous, you are pathetic. Just another "out of context" parrot. And the Bible says no man is good and you live that horrible book? Ugh.

All of us are just human, plain and simple. Some are bad, sure, but most of us are decent people just living our lives the best we can.

Waste your breath talking to your imaginary friend all you want, nothing fails like prayer. It is pretty sad your "heart" will be aching for us heathens when you could be enjoying life. Loser. There is no hell, it was made up to scare weak minded people into submission and handling over their money.

Dano, I just read about the defeat of ID in PA just before checking this site. Yahoo!!! A "Christmas" present for us.

Dano, I'm afraid you've over stepped your bounds, to anonymous it does not matter whether Jesus ever existed or not, you just need faith that Jesus did exist because the Bible said he did. The key is having faith, and living out of your heart. Anonymous is just repeating something that he has heard other religious robots repeat, it's makes him/her feel spiritually superior inside and puffed up by their silly childhood fantasy. You must pray continually, although not one single prayer has ever been answered in the history of the world, you still must pray and hope for a miracle. It all comes from a book that was written by mindless Arabs strung out on opium and cannibis. Actually Americans literarily despise Arabs, but they insist in believing in a lie all made up by a bunch of dopehead Arabs. I personally do not understand how people can hold on to a lie for over 2000 years and it's no closer to being proved true, than the day it was written down. Why people want to cling on to their imaginary Jesus sacrifice is beyond me, apparently it's the only thing that they own, their silly beliefs, but it owns them, but they cannot see that it does. It owns their mind, their family, their money, it's a mind cult implanted by association, we live in a country that, it's people are under the influence of a state of mental hypnosis. America is asleep in the mental fantasy of Jesus. Jesus was the bastard child of Mary and she and her priest, cleverly devised the tale of visitation by Angels, not intending in changing the entire world, but to save her, Joseph and her priest from being stoned to death. So many people insist in believing the lie, they prefer to sweep all logic and common sense away in hopes that their fairytale Jesus will become true and that they have made a public commitment to follow the Jesus fable, that if perhaps the story were to ever become true, that they have stood by the fake Jesus and he will some day recognise that person in favor.

Oh yes, let us not forget that there will be a 1000 year rein in Heaven, and Satan will be loosed a little season, to temp and sway all those devoted believers into Hell...lololololololol

Anonymous, we'll keep praying for you to come to your true mental faculties, although no prayer has ever been answered, so you'll never come to know your true mental state of reality.

You've got to be kidding... Please explain in "context" the following scripture...

"Judges 19:24-25 - Behold, here is my daughter a maiden, and his concubine; them I will bring out now, and humble ye them, and do with them what seemeth good unto you: but unto this man do not so vile a thing. But the men would not hearken to him: so the man took his concubine, and brought her forth unto them; and they knew her, and abused her all the night until the morning: and when the day began to spring, they let her go."

I have studied the bible, I have taken religious studies courses at the university level, I graduated beside friends who were fluent in Hebrew, COIN Greek, etc... If you feel you have something to offer the world in regard to "full context" of the bible, by all means, there studly... put it out there, I want to see the "full" context of the rape scene... The words are "Clear", you are going to have to "make" it more or less than the literal words appear...

I'd like a bible lesson, I mean, its possible you may say something that is actually original in regard to the Hebrew interpretation of the word... You see, Anonymous, I not many on this site, are claiming the bible to be the word of a Perfect "God"... that would be "you"... in my view, mortals wrote those words, in the bible, and they cover a 2,000 year period, historically, the people change over time, the laws, etc., etc... the OT moves from the Jews being the Chosen, to, a NT where the Jews are not longer the Chosen exlusively...

If a perfect God were to write an 'Owners'" manual for how we should live our lives... I would expect it to be efficient, succint, and precise, and relevant for "all time"... the bible fails so poorly at this because it was built and canonized by taking letters, epistles, etc., over a two thousand year period and slapped together... the bible is a historical record, that shows numerous Unfulfilled OT prophesies, and a NT where Jesus was supposed to return before the apostles passed away... If you don't understand this, then you need to keep off this site, as you aren't educated enough about your own scripture to make an educated comment worth discussion... The educated Christians I knew in college, knew the bible historically, and it is how it was presented at the university I attended... no Christian with any intelligence would stand up and argue the point of the obvious failures of the bible if perceived as written or inspired by a Perfect God... still, many did continue to keep their "faith" but it was based on "hope" and knowingly unprovable...

Anonymous: "Of course at least you are drawing from the bible; a good place to start. Others seem to be in left field or drawing from some unsubstantiated document...certainly something that has not even come close to the same level of securitization as the books of the bible. But hey it's easier to believe something if it tells you what you want to hear. "

Again, old wise one, please provide the context for that "one" passage, and please explain why your perfect god was unable to just say "don't rape men"...

Anonymous: "Being enlighten or brainwashed doesn't have to have the negative connotation we tend to give it these days. Uh, well, some of us have reasons for our beliefs, and based on first hand revelation and experience... You on the other hand, if you are a christian, do not... brainwashing and programming occur when a person accepts a premise or information based totally on "faith", without any evidence... We all start out as children in this fashion, however... some of us grow up and become autonomous, and require foundation for belief... if you are a christian, you don't have that foundation, except to say you "hope" that your belief that you were taught is correct... you have "faith" in those who "told" you about god...

Anonymous: "By the way, aren't we a country of "innocent until proven guilty"? A court of law will determine whether or not Richard is guilty of rape...not you...not me. But then why would I think you would wait for the truth before trying to substantiate your personal agenda?"

True, he will be judged by a court of law... I don't know of his guilt, however, I do and "know" first hand, of religious people who have made such actions, to the point of being court martialed from military service while the church stood behind the individual...

What is the point of church or religion... if it doesn't "Stop" or "prevent" such acts, and has such a terrible case history of rape and murder, etc., since recorded history... what purpose does it "serve"... I know, I know... to give people "hope", because they are lost like sheep and just can't seem to find out who they are or what their purpose in life is on their own... so they latch on to a ready made purpose... and do as their told... A religion doesn't "allow" you to "think" differently about its doctrine, you either "believe" or you "don't believe"... not thought involved... that... is the simple minded life...

Anonymous: "Dave8...you seem to suggest that you are "morally inclined". First of all simply stating morally inclined already admits guilt of not being totally moral."

Now... if you want to bait me into further comment on morality, all you have to do is ask... I don't need to be taunted, its childish...

Anonymous: "But I guess that's okay as long as you can justify your actions in your mind."

Still going...

Anonymous: "And, I would like to know what morally inclined means to you."

It means to live with integrity, as an individual... according to natural law... if you need a course on natural law, just ask, I will give you a link...

Anonymous: "I'm willing to suggest that each individual you discuss this topic with will come up with a somewhat similar definition but each person will have their own variation on the definition."

As a professional social scientist... I'd say, based on field experience, you are incorrect... The people I have encountered, pretty much know what morality is based on by "definition" using vernacular terminology... however, morality is underscored by foundational "Values"... and we each have differing weights and prioritization of "Values"... I work in a job that I will get fired from if I don't accept "Integrity", as my Number One Value... as a matter of fact, if I were to knowingly or even incompetently "lie", I would be fired on the spot...

If my boss walked up, and asked me if "god" existed, I would be Lying if I told my boss "yes", I know for a fact that God exists..." as "I don't have evidence", and "hope" is a poor substitute for "fact"... Now, there are plenty of people that will say without flinching "yep, god exists", and that would be a "lie" if proof is required... Hence, where I work, "god" can not be discussed... don't want to put the religiously inclined in a situation that will cause them to perjur themselves...

Religions teach that there is greater Value in "salvation", than in the "Self"... In short, a person must accept themselves as sinful, dirty, and naturally defective, in order to ensure they have a need for "salvation", thus "salvation" is Valued much higher than the self, and its "salvation" that is dangled in from of the blind followers throughout history, that has allowed religious leaders to lead people to murder, rape, torture, etc... I, Value "Self" above "salvation", I don't consider myself naturally defective, because "some other person" told me I am naturally defective... Why would I take the word from a self-admitted naturally defective person regarding "me"...

In short, many who are strict regarding their religions, don't have the same Values as Other people who live in a democracy... most religious folk, believe to the death that they have an "absolute" truth, namely god and salvation, and thus, are more prone to accepting "totalitarian" type gov'ts, or theocracies, as established at the beginning of CE by Constantine... I don't believe in "absolutes", in any manner, its not natural, and therefore, I favor democracy, again, a Value difference I typically have with those of religion... I could go down a list of Values, and explain why I don't align with religious doctrine, but, just understand morality, is an overarching word, with a lot more meaning than just a definition... to just look at is as a "definition", is oversimplifying the matter...

Anonymous: "So who is correct? I certainly hope you don't suggest the individual is."

There are no absolutes, however, natural law shows us basic rules, i.e., life is Valuable... therefore, don't kill unless threatened, etc... Beyond that, in the U.S. we have common law (in most all states), which is nothing but majority influence, and typically in areas with a heavy population of religious you can see the laws that reflect the values of the area...

I do suggest that each persons' Values are theirs, and no one has the right to interfere with another persons personal space and liberty to live their life, as long as they don't impact another persons' right to live according to their Values...

Morality in society, is defined based on law, and common law at that, where the majority vote in an area rules... its why there are still blue laws on the books from back in the day, that are totally ridiculous...

Anonymous: "And Who do you think set the benchmark for what we attempt to follow as morally acceptable."

Nature... And, the laws of hammurabi well established long before the ten commandments of exodus... and lest we forget exodus law, was shunned in favor of new and better laws in the NT... The supreme court of the U.S. lists a plethora of ancient codes of law where we receive our moral code, and the antiquated exodus laws happen to be on the list, much later than other codes, and they are "not" unique, they actually mirror previous laws...

Anonymous: "Let's take a few examples. Is it okay to tell a lie?"

No absolutes... therefore, in certain cases, it is okay to lie... For instance, if a person was sitting in front of a console with a button that said "world destruction", and they asked me to "lie" or they'll push the button, I'd "lie"... because I "Value" life much more than the act of honesty...

Anonymous: "Have you done so?"

Yep...

Anonymous: "How about looking at another woman/man (other than your spouse) with lust in your heart?"

Yep... however, "lust" is a religious word, I think that word to be simple minded... The world "arouseal" or "stimulation" would make much more sense intellectually...

And, I am attracted to women, sorry... its natural... it would be "unnatural" to say otherwise... If you haven't done so, and I doubt you have... go read up on sexual arousal and the senses... You will find, that the "brain" is the major stimulant for sexual arousal, and, because I continually think, am susceptible to "thoughts"... Well, if you would like to discuss this further, I would just send you to a psychology site, where personalities are discussed... my personality typing, is the number one type to deny a supernatural being, and obviously the number one to become stimulated mentally because of thought processing...

Anonymous: "How about stealing or disobeying your parents."

Yep, and Yep... no absolutes however, for you... I would steal, disobey, and even commit adultry in I felt I could save lives... Sorry, life wins... its a number one Value...

Anonymous: "The answer is...anything less than perfection is unworthy of being called morally perfect. Which brings us to this, not I, not you is morally perfect."

And, according to my Value of Life above all else, means... I am more Moral than your God who throughout the bible, killed, murdered, allowed his son to be tortured (in theory), allowed rape, etc., etc... he killed all the animals and people with one flood, and "why", because the people just weren't doing "exactlY" what god wanted... Well, why aren't we being "killed" off these days, christians have been yelling for the end of times for over two thousand years...

Anonymous: "Everyone save Christ has committed some crime against humanity and against God."

Your Jesus, knew Judas was going to turn him in, and allowed him to "sin", your Jesus aided and abetted a murderer... Your Jesus, whilst on the cross of calvary, forgot to "honor thy father", by asking him, why his father had "forsaken" him... Your Jesus, didn't keep the Sabbath day holy... Your Jesus, "lied" when asked if he was The Jewish Messiah, by not "telling" the "whole truth", he evaded the entire line of questioning politically... Your Jesus, while in a bar, protected a woman by stating that anyone who hadn't committed sin could cast the first stone, thereby "gambling" with that woman's life... If you want more, let me know...

Anonymous: "The only question you need to ask yourself is whether or not you want to continue to live in a perpetual state of denial."

Well, I appreciate your concern, however, I live a much more moral life, than your Jesus or god... based on just one itty bitty Value... Life... above all else...

Your Jesus and god, condemned the entire human race according to your bible, because of an "apple"... The next time, someone commits murder, you go to jail for them and get sentenced to death on their behalf, and see if that is justice...

Anonymous: "We will all pass from this earth one day and what will are legacy be."

You are living a life, based on the legacy your parent have left your, and the generations before you... if religion were still the leading political organization, your received legacy would be to live without freedom of thought, and to do as you are told...

Anonymous: "Will we be able to look back and see a path of self absorbed destruction on humanity or will we look back and say we did what we could to clean up our mess and desperately sought out the One who can straighten our path."

Anonymous, (hypothetically speaking), your god, omnisciently created humanity knowing they would be damned to hell... your god, created the heavens and "hell" before he created the earth, knowing people would be subject to everlasting torment... You can't clean up the mess your god made, its out of your hands... You, must live in fear, because your "god" hasn't stated whether or not the "rules" have changed, and you haven't had an update for over two thousand years... And... here's some more grayness for you, the OT doesn't mention the word Jesus, and neither the OT or NT have the words Original Sin or Trinity, but you don't have a problem listening to someone tell you they are "real"...

If you didn't have religion Anonymous, what would be your Purpose in life? If you say make the world a better place, would that include being "tolerant" of other peoples' beliefs? Even if your bible states that you must be "intolerant" of non-believers? Is is moral to be intolerant? Your god wasn't...

Oh, and I flew typing the above post, so... forgive the atrocious grammar, etc... however, my point still stands, the abrahamic god is immoral... By the way Anonymous, while you are around...

Is it moral to be incestuous? Just wondering, I mean, Jesus had sex with his mother, and became his own father at birth... is that moral? If he did, doesn't that mean Jesus committed adultry, as Mary was married to Joseph at the time he was inseminating her? Just trying to get all of this sorted out, thanks for the help...

Oh, and Jesus and murder... if Jesus knew Judas was going to turn him in, and then feel all guilty about it, and commit suicide... then... didn't Jesus facilitate Judas' suicide? If Jesus, knew Judas was going to turn him in and facilitate his own death, wasn't that one of the first cases of recorded euthanasia?

Just trying to get it all straight, about this absolute morality, religion seems to hold the golden key to, thanks for any insights...

What happen to all you people that you are so angry? How can your lives be so pathetic that you are angry at what others believe in. Donny, lay off the drugs with your virgin Mary story. It could be from all the weekends sitting on your mommy's couch watching sci-fi movies.
I just can't believe your lives are so empty you obsess about something you do not believe in anymore or ever did.
People of all religions as well as atheists: rape, murder, steal, lie, cheat...etc. That is the power of free will. Stop feeling so sorry for yourselves and blaming a God you don't even believe in. You will know the truth one day. So enjoy your lives, live everyday to it's fullest.
Please try to refrain from speaking on matters you know nothing about. God has answered every one of my prayers in His time.
So maybe find a hobby. You have so much hate for people that believe in the power of Jesus Christ. Why not ask yourself why you are so concerned with all of us that are "brain washed." Deal with your own empty lives. I don't say that because you don't have Jesus in your heart (so don't try to use that against me, which I'm sure you predictably will) I say that because of your comments and this sad web site. That was my pastor, I love Jesus Christ. He is my savior. That would never shake my faith, because all have fallen short of the glory of God. I hate the sin not the man. I am a sinner as well. So if he is guilty, he will be judged accordingly as I will be.
Get over yourselves. Christianity will never go away. God told us the way to Him was a straight and narrow path. Not many people take that path. I'm sorry you could not continue down that path simply because a few humans failed you.

Update:

Baptist pastor accused of raping Thai immigrant

She was a single mother in her 40s who had emigrated from Thailand to the United States, arriving in Parma last year.

She was grateful for the support she received from the congregation at Parma Baptist Church, especially its senior pastor, the Rev. Richard Manning, who had lived in Thailand for 15 years and spoke Thai.

But the woman testified Tuesday in Cuyahoga County Common Pleas Court that she never imagined the minister whom she revered would rape her and threaten her if she told anyone.

"This is a sin, this is evil," she said tearfully from the witness stand, recalling a conversation she had with Manning after she said he attacked her at her home.

"You are a pastor. What are you doing with my life? I trusted you when you said God sent you to Ohio to be a family for me and my son," the woman said she told Manning.

When asked by Assistant County Prosecutor John Kosko why she didn't initially report the sexual assaults to police, the woman said she believed Manning's threat that no one would believe her because he was a minister and she was an immigrant.

Manning, 48, a married father of two children, maintains his innocence. He admits having a consensual affair with his accuser, but denies the sex was involuntary.

Defense attorney Susan Moran said the truth would emerge during the trial.

"This woman has told so many different stories that she's now getting caught in it," Moran said. "Frankly, I've never had a case where I had more defense evidence."

Manning arrived at the church on Pleasant Valley Road last September. Mutual friends introduced him to the woman, and she attended his Sunday services several times.

Little was told about the man's service in Thailand. He was moved from village to village for the abuse he inflicted on the village women. He kicked his wife and children out and took on a thai housemate..and somehow managed to find a conscience and leave the country to get is wife and child back. Pleeease. The prosecutor used poor foroum in speaking and confused the poor Thai women by asking doulbe negative questions and reduced the poor women to tears when she could not understand what was being asked or said and didn't know how to answer because of the language barrier.
The only truth that came out is that the American Legal system is gravely ill.
